Signing up

Your campus email, the code, and your birthday.

What do I need to sign up?

An iPhone, your campus email address, your date of birth, a government photo ID (a driver's licence, a passport or a state ID) for the ID check, and at least one photo of yourself. It takes a few minutes.

What are the steps?

  1. Your date of birth — Sarx is for people eighteen and over.
  2. Your campus email and a password.
  3. A six-digit code we email to that address.
  4. The ID check: your photo ID and a selfie, checked by Stripe.
  5. Your basics: first name, who you are and who you'd like to meet.
  6. A few lines about yourself, and your photos.
  7. The terms, the privacy policy and the dating-safety notice.
  8. Notifications and location, then you're in.

If you stop partway, the app picks up where you left off next time you sign in.

The app says my school isn't open yet.

Sign-up in the app takes only the email addresses of the campuses that are open. Subdomains count — student.gsu.edu and students.kennesaw.edu are fine. If your school isn't open yet, join the waitlist at sarx.link/early and we'll tell you when it is.

If your school is open and your address is still refused, write to us and include the part of your address after the @.

I didn't get my email code.

The code comes from Sarx and expires 15 minutes after it was sent. If it hasn't arrived:

  • Check that the address on the screen is spelled right.
  • Look in spam, junk and any "quarantine" folder — university mail filters are strict with mail from new senders.
  • Wait a minute, then ask the app for a new code. Only the newest one works.

Still nothing after a few tries? Write to us and tell us your school.

Why does the app ask for my birthday before anything else?

Because Sarx is only for people eighteen and over, and creating an account needs your date of birth. Asking first means nobody under eighteen hands over an email address for nothing. You pick a date on a wheel; the app works out your age.

I'm under 18. Can I use Sarx?

No. Sarx is for college students who are eighteen or older. An account that turns out to belong to someone under eighteen is closed.

Didn't answer it?

Write to us. A person reads every request and replies to the address you give.
